"Passave Demos EPON FTTH"

"Passave Demos EPON FTTH"

"SAN FRANCISCO -- Passave Technologies, a developer of low-cost, high performance chipsets for Ethernet FTTH, today demonstrated interoperability between the Infineon bi-directional Ethernet PON transceivers, the BIDI® and the Passave PAS6001 ONU chip using the PAS65005 EPON reference design."

(Translation: FTTH stands for fiber to the home and PON stands for passive optical network. Passave is selling "chipsets" that a vendor of FTTH transport equipment would incorporate in the box they sell to go on the side of a home. They were demonstrating that their equipment would be compatible with another products from another vendor -- Infineon).

FTTH geeks can turn to the original press release for more jargon.
