Indiana: "Schools, town combine for high-tech connection"

"Westfield -- Eight miles of fiber-optic cable will be buried around Westfield to launch a partnership between the school district and the town that both hope will generate revenue. The cable's path will follow main roads and cross cornfields to provide access to all school buildings and known future school sites, town buildings and vacant land designated for future commercial use."

"In the short term, the high-speed data transmission cable will connect computers in the district's seven schools and administration building. The town will link its town hall, the public utility building on South Street and the public safety building along Ind. 32. In the long run, officials hope it will attract new businesses, especially to the northwest quadrant, which is designated for economic growth."
