Minnesota: Windom City Council approves FTTH system

Windom City Council approves FTTH system

"It took less than 30 minutes for the Windom city council to review, and approve an $8 million telecommunications proposal Tuesday. By a pair of 4-0 votes (Council Member JoAnn Ray was absent), the council approved fiber-to-the-home technology and hired Finley Engineering as project engineer. Both issues came to the council in the form of recommendations by the city-appointed telecom design committee."

The City of Windom already has an older analog cable TV system:

"'We really have no choice ... The transition to digital TV has already started. We either go out of business, or go forward digitally. Analog is gone. It’s just a matter of time.'"
