"Long-Awaited Stability Seen In Fiber Optical Market"

"The once-soaring fiber optical market is finally showing signs of stabilizing at $3.4 billion in 2003, far from its $10.4 billion high water mark set in the boom year of 2000."

"The observation was made Monday by Patrick Fay, senior analyst of KMI Research at the market research firm's annual meeting in Newport, R. I. KMI has specialized in analyzing the fiberoptics market for more than 25 years. The Newport meeting is its 26th annual meeting on the subject."

"'Fiber and cable prices appear to be stabilizing, although at historic lows. The mix of products reflects more short-distance applications,' said Fay. He directs market research on worldwide fiber and fiberoptic cable markets. In addition he maintains the market research company's extensive databases."
