Utility telecom: "Telergy's network for sale - again"

"Dominion Telecom, the company that bought Telergy's fiber-optic telecommunications network last year in bankruptcy court, is holding a going-out-of-business sale. The company is selling its entire telecom network, which extends from New York to North Carolina, and from Chicago to Boston."

I'm not sure that Dominion is exactly holding a "going-out-of-business sale". The parent, Dominion Resources, is selling its Dominion Telecom subsidiary, as already noted in this newslog, and they are taking a large write-down, but I don't think this is a distress sale.

As for the Telergy portion of their network, Dominion purchased that for a mere $7.4 million; in spite of Dominion Telecom's losses elsewhere, I'm sure their Telergy investment has been a very good deal, given the price they paid.

(Fiber Planners has done work for both Dominion's Virginia Power subsidiary and Telergy.)
