Recent FTTH (fiber to the home) news

"SweetNet struggles with financing"
"Waning financial support from the city of Rock Springs has left in doubt the future of a proposed $31 million, publicly-owned fiber optic system for Sweetwater County. Private funding will have to shoulder the brunt of financing for the SweetNet project or it may not go forward, officials involved in the effort said. 'Our support has dwindled from the Rock Springs council ... they've decided we can't afford to do it and they don't want to take the risk with it,' Joint Powers Telecommunications Board (JPTB) Chairman and Rock Springs councilman Steve Shea said in a recent interview. 'We still think it's a good idea to do it ... it's still a viable solution to the city's efforts to improve what we've got.' The board will now try and secure private investors to pay for the proposed Southwestern Wyoming Enhanced and Expanded Telecommunications (SweetNet) system, he said."
