Pennsylvania: NuNet building FTTH overbuild project in Hazleton

Pennsylvania ISP (Internet Service Provider) NuNet has announced it will build an $18 million FTTH (fiber to the home) system in Hazleton offering triple play (voice, data, video) packages. The system will use 100 miles of fiber cable to serve a town of about 23,000 residents.

Several articles covered the announcement; they give conflicting information on pricing:

"Fiber optics headed to Hazleton"

"Hazleton will join exclusive ranks of wired cities"

"Fiber Optics Coming to Hazleton"

"Light Wired: Another town goes fiber"

"Besides the technological advantages, the network should also enrich the community, [NuNet CEO] Keown said. 'There's a study out that the average home value goes up $7,000 for a fiber optic home.'"
