Wyoming: Sweetwater County may link offices with fiber

"Getting fiber to county buildings is one step closer to reality. Members of the Joint Powers Telecom Board met with several county employees and officials Monday to discuss the cost of running fiber to the Sweetwater County offices in Rock Springs. They also discussed the construction timeline."

"The issue was first brought up by Sweetwater County Sheriff Dave Gray. He said consultants told him and other county officials fiber is a more cost efficient way to secure the communications system between the Green River Courthouse and the courthouse annex in Rock Springs. Gray said last week a fiber system would end up costing the sheriff's department about $10,000 less than the T1 lines it currently uses. Fiber would also make the system faster and more efficient."
