Washington: "Bellevue, Kirkland team up to create wired cities"

In Washington State, Bellevue is looking to improve the city's telecommunications:
"... the council wants to know what its options are for building and running a municipal network to provide telecommunications services to businesses and residents. To learn more, the city has hired Virchow, Krause and Co., a Madison, Wisconsin-based consulting company, to conduct telephone surveys, mail surveys and interviews of business executives and residents. Bellevue will pay $100,000 for the survey, splitting the cost with Kirkland, which will pay $75,000. The first surveys will begin in a few days and will take 22 weeks to complete."
