Qwest sends employees to pack public hearings on UTOPIA project

Qwest, the de facto telecommunications monopoly controlling telecommunications in most of Utah, has been sending employees to "pack" public hearings on UTOPIA, the 18-city FTTH (fiber to the home) project. UTOPIA would bring a high speed open access network to hundreds of thousands of Utah residents and Qwest has been been working hard to block it, politically.

Utahns that have such a hard time ever reaching a live Qwest employee when they've called the company with service complaints can actually go to one of these meetings and meet real Qwest employees, where their employer will have them out in full force as 'concerned citizens':

UTOPIA supporters can also use the link on the Utahns for Telecom Choice web site to send a message in support of UTOPIA to their city's councilmen.
